Practice Area
The commercial legal services industry in India is only around 20 years old and is still in its early stages. As a result, there is cutting edge and innovative work that happens every year – this is especially more pronounced in the capital markets space, with new products and transaction structures being introduced regularly. I feel privileged to be in a position where we get to be a part of these transactions and actually grow along with the industry itself. We interact with the best lawyers in the country (within the Firm and externally) and the learning opportunities that arise as a result are tremendous, even after 17 years of practice.
Varoon Chandra handles a range of IPOs, QIPs and bond issuances, acting for a range of leading financiers. An interviewee praises “his grip on the subject, market knowledge and the way he interprets things,” declaring that “it is always great to have him on your side to negotiate documents on your behalf.”
Chambers & Partners Global (2020)With over 16 years of experience,Varoon Chandra heads the Capital Markets practice. Varoon has extensive experience in international and domestic capital market transactions, including issuance of foreign currency convertible bonds and global depository receipts, Indian initial public offers, rights issues and qualified institutions placements.
