Sectors
I am passionate about the rapidly developing area of gender related issues at the workplace. It started in 2003 with my first participation in an internal enquiry for a client under the Vishakha guidelines prescribed by the Supreme Court of India. I developed a keen interest in the subject and trained myself to conduct balanced, objective enquiries and provide unbiased legal advise. This gathered momentum after the POSH Act came into effect in 2013. I have come to believe that this specific area of advisory requires extra sensitivity, maturity, balanced approach as well as strictest confidentiality and would like to see more lawyers working in this area, gain practical experience and use that perspective to give realistic advice to clients.
The team benefits from a dedicated compliance and investigation desk which is deployed on senior–level misconduct and workplace harassment investigations, with co–head Sunila Awasthi being a key name on this front.
Legal 500 Asia–Pacific (2021)Sunila Awasthi brings to bear over 28 years of experience in Employment and Corporate matters to domestic and international clients. Sunila’s expertise extends to advice on a variety of commercial contracts and general advisory, specifically in the areas of e–commerce, information technology, data privacy and employment laws.
