Publication of New Standards of QOS Regulations

The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (‘TRAI’) by way of Notification dated August 2, 2024, has notified the new Standards of Quality of Service of Access (Wireline and Wireless) and Broadband (Wireline and Wireless) Service Regulations, 2024 (‘QoS Regulations’) which will come into effect on October 1, 2024. The QoS Regulations will, inter alia, regulate quality of service parameters for various types of access and customer services, and design, implementation and management of networks. These QoS Regulations will replace the following regulations: (i) The Standards of Quality of Service of Basic Telephone Service (Wireline) and Cellular Mobile Telephone Service Regulations, 2009; (ii) Quality of Service of Broadband Service Regulations, 2006; and (iii) The Standards of Quality of Service for Wireless Data Services Regulations, 2012.
