Paper Based KYC Process Reintroduced for Exceptional Cases

DoT has by way of Letter no. 800-09/2023-AS.II dated March 19, 2024 decided to re-allow the use of previously discontinued paper based know your customer process in the following exceptional cases of: (i) customers with disability; (ii) dignitaries mentioned in Calling Line Identification Restriction guidelines; (iii) Subscriber Identity Module (‘SIM’) swap required for subscribers on international roaming; and (iv) mobile number portability (‘MNP’) requests (subject to approval of applicable licensed service area (‘LSA’) unit).
