Migration of Venture Capital Funds to AIFs Regime

SEBI on July 18, 2024, has amended the SEBI (Alternative Investment Funds) Regulations, 2012 (‘AIF Regulations’) to introduce a new Chapter III-D (‘Chapter’) in the AIF Regulations that deals with migrated venture capital funds (‘Migrated VCFs’). A Migrated VCF is a fund that was previously registered as a venture capital fund under the SEBI (Venture Capital Funds) Regulations, 1996 and subsequently registered under the AIF Regulations as a venture capital fund under Category I – AIF. Additionally, SEBI has on August 19, 2024, issued a Circular notifying various modalities for Migrated VCF’s.
